Born in 1887, Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist who painted nature in based on the way it made her feel. She is best known for her paintings of flowers, skulls, and desert landscapes. O'Keefe was one of the first female painters to gain respect in the 1920s art world in New York, playing an important part in the development of modern art. She was known as a pioneer of modern art because of her unique way of simply painting nature based on the way it made he feel.
